Dr. Mason joined FTCC in 2010. Before teaching she worked primarily as a system administrator for various companies. She has recently obtained her Doctor of Information Technology with a concentration in Adult Education and considers herself to be a lifelong learner. She is passionate about the success of her students and enjoys seeing them succeed.

Nakia Cummings

Mr. Cummings joined Fayetteville Technical Community College in March 2013 as an Information Technology Instructor. His duties are to prepare students for the IT industry such as obtaining IT certifications, installing and supporting network infrastructures as well as implementing security protocols.
Nakia has over 20 years of experience in the field of Information Technology and a diverse background in Corporate, Community College and University settings. On top of being an Instructor at FTCC in the educational system, he was also a Cybersecurity & IT Trainer in CompTIA A+, Network+ & Security+ for the University of Maryland Baltimore County and Fayetteville State University. He improved efficiency and cost effectiveness for campus IT services at Robeson Community College as the Information Technology Manager. He also worked locally with the Public Schools of Cumberland County as a Network Specialist for many years. Prior to this he worked in the Corporate Telecommunications Industry as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, Systems Administrator with Alltel, Embarq and Century Link.
Nakia has climbed the educational ranks by achieving his Associates Degree in Information Technology Network Support at Robeson Community College, Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology at University of Phoenix and his Master’s Degree in Network & Security at East Carolina University.

Laura Galvan

Ms. Galvan attended high school in Frederick, Maryland and Portland, Texas. She graduated as the youngest graduate (at the time) from Gregory-Portland High School, placing in the top 2% of her class of 750. She started working full-time at 16 when she decided to start her academic career. She declared a major of Computer Science, even though she had never seen a computer before. She earned her AAS in Computer Science from Del Mar Junior College in Corpus Christi, Texas. She went on to an upper 2-year school and completed her Bachelors of Science in Computer Science at Texas A & M, Corpus Christi. During these years she worked as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service. During this tenure with the park service she developed new computer systems that integrated financial management, procurement records and inventory control.
Shortly after graduation she moved, with her then husband, to Fort Bragg, NC. She accepted employment with the Department of Transportation, Office of Motor Carrier Safety in Raleigh, NC. In this position, Ms. Galvan functioned as a regional computer expert for the south-east region. While working with the transportation department, Laura created programs used by regional offices to track motor carriers and other various reporting requirements. It was during this time that she had her first child, a daughter, and desired to work closer to home. She accepted a position with the EDP program at Fayetteville Tech. She has taught various computer languages, logic, basic terminology, Office Suites and a multitude of other classes. She has been with FTCC for over 30 years!
While employed with FTCC, Ms. Galvan proceeded to obtain her MBA from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. Not too long after receiving this degree she went on to earn an MA in Information Systems from Webster University. She integrates all aspects of her knowledge of business and computers by consulting with local firms over needs, maintaining currency with technology and local needs.
In her spare time, Ms. Galvan loves to do yoga, read and work on her house. She has three beautiful girls, ranging in age from 26 – 42 as well as a demanding poodle. She enjoyg woodworking, home repairs and remodeling, sewing, gardening, reading and so much more!

Dr. Jeffrey Linney

Dr. Linney is a full-time instructor in the PC Support and Services Department. He has been teaching at FTCC since January of 2015. He is a North Carolina native, born and raised in Alexander County, and a former law enforcement officer. He has lived in the North Carolina cities of Taylorsville, Charlotte, Boiling Springs, Wilmington, Youngsville, Dunn, and currently, Benson.
His formal education consists of the Associate in Applied Science degree in Industrial Safety, Security, and Health Management Technology from Central Piedmont Community College, the Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Gardner-Webb University, the Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, the Master of Science degree in Management from Southeast Missouri State University, and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Willie Lockett

Dr. Lockett has been an instructor at FTCC since 2012. He is from Jacksonville, Florida. He enlisted in the US Army on August 30, 1973. He attended basic military training at Fort Knox, KY. He graduated from Central Texas College on May 1, 1988, Fayetteville State University on December 5, 1990, and Pembroke University on December 11, 2002. He earned a Masters degree in computer information systems from University of Phoenix on July 23 2004 and a Ph.D. in Organizational Management Technology from Capella University.
His military music education includes Army basic music course, Army intermediate music course, Army enlisted bandleaders, and Army Warrant Officers basic certification and advance music course at the Armed Forces School of Music.
He has held a variety of key leadership positions as an enlisted soldier and as a warrant officer. As an enlisted soldier, he served as a percussionist in the 8th Infantry Division Band Germany, Rhythm Group Leader in the 1st Calvary Division Band Fort Hood Texas, and Senior Instructor at the School of Music.
His warrant officer positions include; Commander/Bandmaster of the 82d Airborne Division Band Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Commander/Bandmaster of the 2nd Infantry Division Band Camp Casey Korea. His final assignment before retiring in 1998 was Technical Advisor Counselor (TAC), assigned to 1st Warrant Officer Company, Warrant Officer Career Center Fort Rucker.

Mr. Scott a graduate from the University of Florida with a BSBA, earned his Masters’ Degree in 1999 in Management Information Technology from AIU. He has been working in the field of IT for over 22 years and has accumulated 18 years of teaching. The challenge of learning new things, due to the everchanging landscape of Technology is one of the main reasons for changing careers. Prior to working in IT, Mr. Scott managed full services restaurants and was an Officer in the U.S. Army at Ft. Bragg. He has been married for 28 years to his wife Christine. They have one daughter attending Appalachian State University and a son who has joined the workforce. Mr. Scott has numerous outside hobbies that range from working with computers to sports.
