Heating, air conditioning and refrigeration are everywhere!
Which means that heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians are needed everywhere – in homes, schools, hospitals, offices, restaurants, etc. Employment opportunities include working for companies that service residential systems, commercial systems, or both. With enough work experience and training you can pursue a mechanical contractor’s license from the state and open your own company. Our field is projected to grow much faster than the average occupation. As residential and commercial building construction increases, so will the demand for a qualified HVAC technicians.
What to Expect:
Course Work
- Electricity controls and safety
- Heating and cooling theory
- Mechanical refrigeration
The diploma program covers air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, tools and instruments.
The associate degree in applied science also covers residential building codes, residential system sizing, and advanced comfort systems.
Career Paths
Graduates should be able to assist in the start up, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems. Associate in Applied Science degree graduates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of system selection and balance and advanced systems.
