Competitive Admissions

A student must complete all pre-requisites and gain competitive points in order to apply for approval to the Dental Assisting program.
Once approved for a Health program, students will be provided with information regarding books, uniforms, supplies and equipment, and any additional program requirements.

Competitive Points

As part of the competitive admissions process, each student is evaluated based on a point system. The Competitive Points Worksheet outlines the additional 15 departmental points a prospective student can earn.

Course Work

The Dental Assisting curriculum prepares individuals to assist the dentist in the delivery of dental treatment and to function as integral members of the dental team while performing chair side and related office and laboratory procedures.

A combination of lecture, laboratory, and clinical experiences provides students with knowledge in:

Career Paths

Dental Assistants are called up to assist in the delivery of care by performing tasks such as instrument exchange, oral evacuation, mixing materials, taking impressions and pouring them into models, taking and developing radiographs, and placing sealants. Dental Assistants also make and cement temporary crowns and bridges, triage emergency patients and initial exam patients, and work in the capacity of the business office personnel.
