What to Expect:
Course Work
- Physiology of Sleep: Gain a deep understanding of the physiological processes related to sleep, including sleep cycles, brain activity during sleep, and the importance of sleep in maintaining overall health.
- Anatomy and Pathophysiology: Explore the fundamentals of human anatomy, with a focus on how different body systems can impact sleep. Learn to identify normal anatomical structures and recognize pathological processes that can lead to sleep disorders.
- Polysomnographic Equipment: Acquire expertise in the use of state-of-the-art polysomnographic equipment. Learn to set up, operate, and troubleshoot sleep monitoring devices, including EEG, ECG, respiratory sensors, and more.
- Sleep Disorders Identification: Develop the skills to identify and classify various sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and parasomnias. Learn to analyze sleep data and provide accurate diagnoses.
- Patient Interaction and Communication: Develop strong patient interaction skills to create a comfortable and supportive environment for individuals undergoing sleep studies. Learn effective communication techniques and patient education strategies.
