Fayetteville Technical Community College has once again been named a Top 10 Military Friendly School, earning the No. 5 spot on the list of large community colleges nationwide.
FTCC remains in the Top 5 for the second straight year. The college has been consistently awarded Top 10 Military Friendly status in the large community college category by Viqtory, an independent media organization that connects the military community to civilian employment, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities.
FTCC was ranked No. 1 in 2022-23 and 2019-20.
Scot McCosh, FTCC’s Senior Director of Military & Veterans Programs, called the designation an honor for the college and for its MVP office.
“As nearly one-third of our student body is affiliated with the military as service members, military dependents or veterans, we continue to keep this population at the forefront of our decision making,” McCosh said. “Having a team dedicated to serving our active military personnel who sees our military affiliated students completing classes, progressing in their military careers and developing new skill sets for their transition into civilian employment is an absolute joy.
“These students will be our community, state and national leaders and are gifts to have as part of the FTCC Trojan family.”
More than 1,800 institutions participated in this year’s survey to determine the list of 2025-26 Military Friendly Schools. Of the participants, 830 schools earned special awards for going above the standard.
The methodology, criteria, and weightings for the list were determined by Viqtory with input from an advisory council of independent leaders in higher education and the military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, degree advancement or transfer, and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
FTCC offers a wide range of classes, and its programs are available in a variety of settings, including on FTCC’s campuses, at Fort Bragg and online to support flexible schedules. FTCC awards appropriate credit for prior military learning and follows up with comprehensive services to meet the unique educational needs of military-connected students.
FTCC’s All American Veterans Center, which is located on its Fayetteville campus, provides educational assistance and support services to veterans. The College’s Transition Tech program provides industry-focused and connected training in a number of career pathways for military members who are preparing for civilian life. These programs prepare students with industry recognized certifications and are connected with employers that are seeking candidates to fill positions in high-demand sectors in transportation, automotive collision and repair, biotechnology, manufacturing, utilities and others.
Additionally, FTCC has full-time staff located at Bragg Training and Education Center on Fort Bragg to assist active duty soldiers with attending college.
The 2025-26 Military Friendly Schools list will be included in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine, which is published by Viqtory.
