The Fayetteville Technical Community College Fine Arts Department will be holding auditions for parts in its spring production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Anyone interested in auditioning for the musical comedy should request an appointment for their preferred date by contacting Katie Herring at herringk@faytechcc.edu or 910-678-8493. They will be sent a selection from the script to prepare to read for the audition. They should also prepare to sing 32 bars of a musical theater song.

All are welcome to audition – students, faculty, staff and members of the community.

Rehearsals for the play will begin on Nov. 4 and be held from 6-9pm Monday through Thursday. There will be no rehearsals during FTCC’s winter break. Performances are scheduled for Feb. 20 – March 1.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a Tony Award-winning musical. Playbill.com says the musical follows “a group of wonderfully unique and impassioned adolescents as they compete for the bee championship,” and “is a joyful night of comedy and quirk that celebrates the pursuit of victory and the gift of being true to oneself.”
