Baseball traveled to Kinston, NC this past weekend for a conference series against Lenoir Community College. The Lancers took the first and third games to secure the series win. The Trojans are now 19-20 overall and 10-14 in conference play as they descend through the second half of their season. 

FTCC vs. Lenoir: 

Game One- 12-14, Loss

The Trojans scored 12 runs on 15 hits, but it wasn’t enough to get the win over the Lancers who plated 14 runs on 16 hits. 

Jack Anderson (St. Simmons Island, GA) started on the bump for the Trojans going five innings, giving up six runs while striking out three. Xander Davis (Carolina Beach, NC), Tommy Parker (St. Pauls, NC) and Ty’Quez Hadley (Hartsville, SC) all came on in relief to finish the nine inning contest. 

Zamar Lewis (Dublin, NC), Toufic Khabie (Aventura, FL), Charlie Sindahl (Savannah, GA) and Devin Outlaw (Jacksonville, FL) all had two hits in the game. 

Cole Feldman (Midlothian, VA) led the Trojans going 3-4.

Game Two- 4-3, Win 

The Trojans held onto game two, scoring first and keeping the lead throughout the whole game. 

In the top of the first Myles Odom (Pleasant Garden, NC) led off with a single and scored the first run of the game on an RBI groundball from Lewis. 

The Trojans added to their lead in the second scoring two more runs. Outlaw singled to leadoff the inning and JJ Faulkner (East Arcadia, NC) hit a one out single to score him. Clayton Bloomstran (Atlanta, GA) picked up an RBI on a two out single to plate Faulkner. 

The Lancers scored their first run in the third, but the Trojans added one more to their lead in the sixth which was an insurance run they didn’t know they needed. 

Koa Kloehs (Suwanee, GA) and Faulkner hit back to back singles to start the inning. Odom then smashed a line drive double to left field to score Kloehs, but Faulkner was pegged at the plate. 

The Lancers plated two more runs in the sixth to make it a one run game, but the Trojans were able to hold on in the seventh with Griffin Widrig (Boardman, OH) on the mound. 

Jacob Chavis (Pembroke, NC) threw the first five innings on the bump for the Trojans to earn the win giving up two runs. Jackson Rosser (Broadway, NC) threw one inning before Widrig came in the seventh to get the save.

The Trojans had 13 hits in the game to score their four runs.

Game Three- 15-19, Loss

The Trojans were down 0-9 going into the third inning before they scored seven runs in the top of the fourth. They took the lead in the top of the sixth, but the Lancers went back ahead by one in the bottom of the inning. 

The Trojans then tied the game back up in the top of the seventh and the Lancers again took the lead in the bottom of the inning. Three more Trojan runs were plated in the eighth, but Lenoir scored five more runs in the bottom of the inning to pull the game out of reach by four. 

The Trojans had 15 hits to score their 15 runs, including four homeruns by Odom, Outlaw, Lewis and Khabie. 

Landon McDonald (Jacksonville, FL) started on the mound for the Trojans, but then it turned into a staffed game as six pitchers made an appearance.

Baseball is back at home on Wednesday when they host Gaston College in a non-conference game at 1pm. They will then host Bryant & Stratton College this weekend at JP Riddle Stadium for their next conference series. Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day starting at 1pm. All home games are free admission and played at 2823 Legion Road.
