Baseball hosted Southeastern Community College-Whiteville in a three game series to open conference at JP Riddle Complex this past weekend. The two games on Saturday both ended in five-inning contests, while the third game on Sunday went all nine innings. Baseball starts 3-0 in conference play with an 8-6 overall record.
FTCC vs. Southeastern CC- Saturday, February 17 (12-2, Win & 10-0, Win)
The Trojans used two pitchers on the day in ten innings of play, Rob Willis (Montgomery, AL) and Caleb Holland (Fayetteville, NC). Willis in his five innings of work gave up four hits and two walks with four strikeouts. While in game two, Holland allowed three hits with one walk to keep the Rams scoreless.
Drew Canody (Tampa, FL), Zavion Ingram (Clayton, NC) and Mason Turner (Lexington, SC) lead the offense for the Trojans in game one each having two of the eight hits in the contest.
In game two, the Trojans had a total of five hits including a triple from Turner and a school record tying homerun from Canody.

FTCC vs. Southeastern CC- Sunday, February 18 (5-3, Win)
The final game of the series started a little different then Saturday. The Rams led up until the third inning when the Trojans put up four runs to take the first lead of the game.
The Trojans big third inning started off by a single from Derrick Hall (Fayetteville, NC) to center field. Ingram laid down a sacrifice to advance Hall to second base before Devin Outlaw (Jacksonville, FL) blasted a homerun over the left field wall to put the Trojans on the scoreboard. Turner follows with a double to the left field warning track and Jaylon Woodley (Courtland, VA) hits an infield single to keep the rally going. Canody singles with a rocket hit to the third baseman to load the bases for Kleiderman Camacho (Venezuela). Camacho singles down the right field line to score two, putting the Trojans up 4-3.
Ingram scored one more run in the fourth inning for the Trojans. After his double to left field, he advanced to third on a drop third strike and scored on a pass ball.
Tanner McNeal (Currituck County, NC) started on the bump for the Trojans throwing four innings, giving up three runs and three hits with four strikeouts. Brett Alvis (Hanover, VA) came in for relief to throw the final five innings allowing four hits with five strikeouts.
Baseball is on the road for their next match up heading to Lenoir Community College for a three game series February 24-25. The next home game for the Trojans is Wednesday, February 28 when they host Wake Tech for a non-conference game at 3pm.
