The Trojans are off to a 19-4 start on their season, which has them ranked at #20 in all of NJCAA DII Men’s Basketball. They are still fighting for that #1 spot with Davidson-Davie in Region 10 before the conference tournament rolls around in March.
FTCC vs. Louisburg College- Thursday, February 9 (101-87, Win)
The stands were packed at last nights basketball game between the FTCC Trojans and Louisburg College Hurricanes. It was Spirit Night for Reid Ross, so the band and the fans were both in attendance along with Miss Fayetteville and Miss Teen Fayetteville.
The Trojans start off strong getting the tip off, when Gerren Jones (Swansboro, NC) was fouled immediately on his first shot. Jones made the first basket for the Trojans, making a three-point play with a jumper and an extra point from the foul gave the Trojans their first lead of the game.
FTCC came out fresh from the first timeout with five minutes left to play in the first half. Tristin Harkins (Fayetteville, NC) made a quick three, followed by a steal when the Hurricanes were bringing the ball down the court. Aldrick Ke Edwards (Conover, NC) had an offensive put back and Nigel Vincent (Greensboro, NC) made a two-point drive to force Louisburg to call another timeout within less than two minutes.
The Trojans did not stop with their momentum for the rest of the game, hitting 100 points with 22 seconds left in the second half by a David McCallum (Durham, NC) drive.
This is the fourth game for the Trojans this season where they have hit triple digits on the scoreboard.
Men’s Basketball is currently 12-3 in conference play with seven game remaining in their regular season. Saturday, February 10 they will be traveling to Virginia to take on Bryant & Stratton College for another conference match. The Trojans lost to the Bobcats back in December, but since then, they have only lost one game to #2 Davidson-Davie Community College.
The next and final home game for the Trojans will be Saturday, February 24 against Southwest Virginia as they recognize and celebrate their Sophomores for their accomplishments this season and on their careers at FTCC.
