Men’s Basketball traveled to Louisburg, North Carolina to play in the Jimmy Goldston Classic to open their season. They faced off against Chesapeake College on Friday and then played Hagerstown Community College on Saturday.
FTCC vs. Chesapeake College: 66-83, Loss
The Trojans faced the Skipjacks in game one on Friday night and were down by only four points at the half. Chesapeake pulled ahead in the second half and outscored the Trojans to win the first game of the season.
Melquan Jackson (Fayetteville, NC) was the leading scorer from the Trojans coming off the bench with 14 points. Jahlil Green (Greensboro, NC) had seven rebounds and five blocks, while Jayden Pitt (Farmville, NC) added six rebounds and 10 points.
Armaan Benitez (Philadelphia, PA) came off the bench scoring 12 points. James Jones (Raleigh, NC) contributed seven of the Trojans 66 points.
FTCC vs. Hagerstown CC: 88-84, Win
Men’s Basketball traveled back to Louisburg College on Saturday to face Hagerstown Community College. The Trojans were down by nine points at half time, but outscored the Hawks by 13 points in the second half to pull out their first win of the season.
Tristin Harkins (Fayetteville, NC) was the leading scorer with 19 points. In his starting role, Nigel Vincent (Greensboro, NC) had 15 of the Trojan’s 88 points and four steals. Pitt led the defense with seven rebounds.
Jalen Booker (Charlotte, NC) came off the bench with 11 points, a steal and six rebounds. Jones also added six rebounds in the game.
The Trojans are back on the road this Friday when they head to neighboring Central Carolina Community College to open conference play with a 7pm game.
