Men’s Basketball has won three of the last five conference games, all on their home court. They have improved to 8-11 overall and 3-8 in conference play with eight games left in the regular season.
FTCC vs. Catawba Valley: 78-70, Win
The Trojans were up by 16 points going into the second half against the Red Hawks. Catawba Valley pulled the game within eight points, but the Trojans were able to hold onto the lead scoring 41 points in the second half.
Melquan Jackson (Baltimore, MD) was the leading scorer for the Trojans with 19 points. Jahlil Green (Greensboro, NC) and Te’Jon McDaniel-McCormick (Salina, KS) each had double double games with points and rebounds.
Tristin Harkins (Fayetteville, NC) had 13 points and Jaylen Sturdivant (Raeford, NC) scored nine points off the bench. Jayden Pitt (Farmville, NC) added ten points and eight assists.
FTCC at Cleveland: 87-107, Loss
On the road at Cleveland Community College, the Trojans trailed the Yetis the entire game. Cleveland outscored FTCC by ten points each half to secure their home victory.
Pitt led the Trojan offense with 24 points and Green added 22 with 14 rebounds, another double double game for him. Sturdivant scored ten points off the bench.
FTCC vs. Davidson-Davie: 94-62, Win
The Trojans took on #2 in the country Davidson-Davie on their home court and pulled out a stellar 32 point difference. Leading by 21 points at halftime, the Trojans held the Storm to their lowest scored game of the season.
Harkins led the offense with 24 points and a half court shot to keep the energy rolling for the Trojans. Pitt added 18 points off the bench, being the second highest scorer in the game. Green, yet again, served up another double double game with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
FTCC vs. Cleveland: 85-66, Win
The Trojans answered the call with a rematch against the Yetis on their own turf. After the Trojans scored 26 more points in the first half, the Yetis came out with more offensive energy to finish the game, but it was not enough to take the lead.
Xavier Whitaker (Rocky Mount, NC) was the leading scorer with 14 points and five rebounds from off the bench. Harkins added 13 points and eight rebounds. McDaniel-McCormick and Nigel Vincent (Greensboro, NC) had 12 points.
FTCC at Southwest Virginia: 88-99, Loss
The next day, the Trojans jumped on the road to make the trip up to Southwest Virginia Community College. The Trojans were only down by two points at halftime, but were outscored by the Eagles when they came back on the court.
Harkins and Whitaker each scored 14 points for the Trojans. Vincent added 13 and James Jones IV (Raleigh, NC) scored 11 points.
The Trojans will head to Louisburg College on Wednesday for a 7pm tip-off. The next home game for Men’s Basketball will be Wednesday, February 12 following the Women’s game against Guilford Tech!
