Softball hosted Bryant & Stratton College in a conference series this weekend at JP Riddle. Through rain delays and changing game times, the Bobcats came out on top of all three games.

FTCC vs. Bryant & Stratton

Game One- 0-6, Loss:

It was a pitcher’s dull between Tam Lowery (Raeford, NC) and the Bobcat’s pitcher Gust up until the fifth inning.

The Bobcats scored two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh to shut out the Trojans in game one.

Lowery pitched 4.1 innings giving up five hits and two earned runs. She had four strikeouts which gives her 300 career strikeouts at FTCC. Ava Basolt (Sanford, NC) finished the final 2.2 innings, allowing four hits and one earned run.

Game Two- 4-17, Loss (5-innings):

Bryant & Stratton scored two runs in the top of the first, but this time the Trojans responded to take their first lead of the day.

With one out, Trinity Gaither (Bunnlevel, NC) was hit by a pitch and Morgan Brady (Fayetteville, NC) singled to put two runners on base. Nyla Mitchell (Lumberton, NC) hit a high fly ball over the left field fence that one hopped the bus in the parking lot to give the Trojans the lead.

The Trojans added to their lead in the second on a two-out double by Brady that scored Gaither who walked earlier in the inning.

The game went into a rain delay with the Trojans leading 4-2.

When the game resumed, the Bobcats put up 15 runs in the fourth to secure their second win on the day.

Lowery started on the mound again in game two. Basolt and Mitchell pitched the final two innings.

Brady led the offense going 2-3 with a school record breaking double.

Game Three- 3-11, Loss (6-innings):

The Bobcats started game three on Sunday where they left off on Saturday. They scored seven runs in the top of the first, one in the second and two in the third.

The Trojans chipped away in the bottom of the third, scoring their only three runs of the game.

Gaither singled and Brady doubled to start the inning. Mitchell hit a single to right field to put the Trojans on the scoreboard. Lowery and Basolt both hit ground ball RBIs to plate the other two Trojan baserunners.

One more run was scored in the top of the sixth for the Bobcats to put the run-rule into effect. The Trojans were unable to respond in the bottom of the inning, so the game ended early in six.

Mitchell started on the mound throwing .2 innings of work and Lowery threw the next 5.1 innings getting five more strikeouts.
