It’s the first day back on campus and in the classroom for the FTCC men’s basketball team after suffering a disappointing loss over the weekend to Florida Gateway College. Yet, we have a lot to be proud of today because of these gifted athletes. Our Trojans added a page to the history books here at Fayetteville Technical Community College, after coming off a winning streak and landing in the competition to compete in the NJCAA Region X National Championship. To say it was an exciting, yet strenuous season, would be an understatement.
Coach Brian Hurd says, “I am extremely proud of this team. Although we didn’t reach our goal of getting a championship and going to the National Championship tournament, we still have a lot to be proud of. We accomplished things this year that we couldn’t have imagined. While we wanted that trophy really bad, it would have sat in a case and collected dust. All the memories we made together and the relationships that were built will last a lifetime. That’s the most important thing the team will carry with them from this season.”
We will carry those memories as well, Coach. Every basket made or missed, FTCC’s student body, faculty and staff have been behind our team 100 percent!
Coach Hurd leaves this season with some advice for us all, “everyone thinks failure is the opposite of success while in reality, it is a part of success and it is because we make it from one failure to the next we are able to be successful.”
Thanks for the memories!
