SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA. — Fayetteville Tech volleyball picked up a pair of wins Saturday in a tri-match against Montgomery College and host Richard Bland.
The Trojans opened the day with a 3-2 victory over Bland before taking a 3-1 win over the Ravens.
With the wins, FTCC improves to 19-3 overall and 10-3 in the Region 10 Division II East standings.
The win over Bland, a East Division opponent, propels the Trojans into second place in the East, narrowly ahead of the Statesmen (14-7, 9-3) and a game and a half behind leader Cape Fear CC (16-3, 11-1).
The Trojans travel to the Sea Devils on Tuesday.
FTCC came from behind in each of Saturday’s matches, dropping the first set before rebounding for the win.
The Trojans beat Bland 15-25, 25-21, 25-21, 22-25 and 15-11 before topping the Ravens 23-25, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-18.
Freshman middle Morgan Brady had a team-high 17 kills against the Statesmen and three block assists. Outside hitter Alyssa Wrench had 23 digs and 12 kills. Sophomore Jacqueline Woosley had 58 assists.
Against the Ravens, right-side hitter Lauren Adams had 11 kills and two aces. Woosley had 42 assists and four aces. Libero Kristen Woods had 19 digs.
After Tuesday’s game at Cape Fear, the Trojans will finish the regular season Friday at home at 6 p.m. against USC Union.
